Hike the Islands

Exploring the Islands with my Boo. Todays hike took us to the place of Kråke in the Island of Kjyrkøy, one of the Islands in Sjernarøy.

With the blue skies and frisky windy in our back. We went exploring. Mr. Grumpy have hiked here before several times as this is close to his former cabin. But it has been a few years since the last time as we learn at the top – six years. And much change in six years, also mother Nature.

We parked the car at the road and started the hike in a quiet peaceful cove surrounded by farmland a few goats and sheep.

The first half hour of the hike is in woody land. This is an easy and short hike, and no extra equipment is necessary. We did pack a few chocolates though – a typical hike feeding in Norway would be kvikklunch (a chocolate bar that equals the KitKat) and oranges – These plus some hot chocolate equals Easter hike in Norway.

Halfway in we reached the ocean and stopped to take in the view before heading up to the top.

love the view in this secluded place. A great place to stop and rest for a moment and if you packed any goodies. Here is the place to enjoy them

Not sure whether it is a Norwegian custom or a world wide one. But at some hiking trails you may find a small mailbox containing a small book to write in. This place has one and I must admit it was fun to read in. And we even found some familiar names in it going back to 2008 – pretty cool. And as a custom, of course we wrote too.

You can choose which way to go back. The same way you came – the shorter one. Or like we did take the full tour of 5 km. (both ways) and opt for going in a circle.

A great hike on a good day. Although windy in-between but nothing good clothes and shoes can’t match. On lazy easter days a good hike feels great. Get out and explore.

It was so much fun reading the storys. This part of Norway is very beautiful. Hoping for a new trip this summer. <3

Det er sant Elisabeth. Norge og særlig kysten har mange flotte perler. Men det har jammen midt Norge og. Har til og med tilbrakt nesten en uke i Nordmarka for flere år tilbake – til både glede og frustrasjon. Men gode minner 🙂
