Lights out, backyard travels and Lighthouses

I think there is something with age, as I grow older I seem to be more fond of my own country. I´ve decides that this year I will make the effort to explore some more of my own “backyard” hence the lighthouse visit. I hope this will be one of many travels. I may even get to explore a sleepover some day as I know some of my local lighthouses offer this to paying guests.

This day started sunny, with blue skies luring me into a small drive outside of Stavanger. But is soon turned into the typical winter weather we have on these parts. Grey, windy and sprinkles of rain. To get to the Lighthouse of Tungenes in Randaberg you have to park your car for a small hike (10-15min).

And there on the tip of Northern Jaeren you have a few houses standing together as the former Lighthouse station. Today it´s in use as a Café and as a Museum but December and parts of January it is closed. It is a weatherly place as it would be due to is locations where the North sea narrows in to the fjord of Stavanger and Sandnes.

As the rain grew heavier we moved towards the car again, but I might visit again some day to take a longer hike in these beautiful surroundings walking along the cliffs to the sea.
