Milan done in 2 hours
Milan, in two hours? Can it be done you ask? ,well yes of course. I would not recommend it, but it is possible.
Milan the fashion capitol of the world, the see and be seen of all cities. Where fashion meets architecture, food and culture.
Initially we were scheduled to have some more time in this city. Not a whole lot, but the afternoon. But then again sometimes plans change, and weather was not on our side. Upon arriving (the second time) the rain came down. We headed towards the Duomo and were in need of a quick bite of lunch. Surrounding the area you find anything you need. Of course for a more expensive price as in every tourist areas. Non the less.
We wanted to eat and needed to get out the rain. Being on the run all day and on top of that discovering that I made a major bummer while booking the hotel for our last night here in Milan! I had forgotten to check which airport we were departing from… (or in my defence checked the box for airport and did not know that Milan has two!)
We first arrived the city 6 days prior. Only for the night as we started our 6 days roundtrip from this spot. Hopped on the train and went for Venice. My first impression was that of a typical big city, nothing like Rome or even Florence.. the architecture is different here.
The big central train station is a beautiful big building that can not be missed.
Fast forward 5 days on and discovering my mistake in the taxi heading out of town towards the wrong airport… We kindly made the Taxi driver to turn around and head for Linate Airport and crossed fingers for getting a new hotel room here. We were in luck and an hour later sat down for lunch downtown, cold and a little wet.
When short in time, make sure you take a taxi directly to the Duomo, within seconds you walk directly upon it and then you also have the Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II, the famous covered shopping gallery. One of the worlds oldest.
Two hours summed pretty quickly… Let´s hope there will be a next time and that next time I get to explore a little more. I am pretty sure even Milan has it´s hidden gems.
