New Year ´s less ordinary
Happy New Year!!
2015 is history and 2016 is fast upon us. I´ve spent the last day and new year abroad. My most preferable way to spend my days.
My last day of 2015 was spent in Denmark and Sweden. My lovely Neighbors. My celebrations took place in Sweden, at a familiar favorite of mine. The lodge resort at Genarp. This was my 4th visit to the new England styled little hideaway in the rolling hills of Skåne. Though it has been a few years since the last visit, my easter getaway.
Both Denmark and Sweden greeted us with a perfect weather for the last day of 2015. Sunny, crisp and cold. Feeling like a good wintery day.
We rented a car to get us in to Sweden and the lodge. A perfect little Toyota Adam, I think I just found my new car!
The Lodge is set a good hour away from Copenhagen. And we opt for going through Copenhagen just because it is easier for us coming from Stavanger. The flight is set for an hour and goes direct as opposite going to Malmö, that would take us through Oslo and take 3 to 4 times longer. So then Copenhagen it is – and that made me get to explore one more city before the the strike of 2015!
The road up to the Lodge New Years eve runs perfectly smooth. U take the E20 towards Lund/Malmö and then head on to 11 toward Simrishamn all the way until you see the sign for The Lodge resort. Bathed in sunlight the nature showed its beauty in all it´s glory.
Getting there is half the fun… 😉 But feels like coming home. And feels just like yesterday. Not much has changed here, and that is exactly what I like with this place.
We make it just in time for afternoon tea. Get´s all settled in before heading down to the lounge.
Good thing we did´t eat before heading over to our New Year location. Afternoon tea lasted 2 hours with selv servings of coffee, tea and all you can eat snacks and sweets. This time accompanied to some live music, a perfect back drop to the last day of the year. Bring me som fizzy and a good book and this is where you´ll find me.
When booking the New Year getaway we also get access to the spa. A cold and refreshing affair. With the temperature getting close to zero (not my favorite) it was still good to get a dip in the relative warm water even if it all took place outside in the cold.
New Year´s supper is set at 1930 starting with champagne and canapé in the lounge. a 5 course meal starting of with rabbit, fish, quail before the two course dessert both with lots of chocolate and a good selection of cheese.
Perfectly stuffed we head out to cheer to the new year. Only this time rain have fallen upon us making it hard (read impossible) to see the surroundings all sparked in fireworks. The Lodge it self fired up a few but my hopes were to have the view over the hills and down to Lund… I guess you really can´t have it all.
so long the lodge,
