Seeking christmas spirit
Taking a day off from work to regain some energy and quiet the stress in both my head and body.
I decided to head for a small city south of where I live, Egersund. Every year they host the biggest christmas marked in my region for two weekends. And people from all over my region seeks out this christmas miracle. You can not help but to feel the christmas spirit when arriving here, no matter what the weather brings.
The day started out beautifully with sun and blue skies. I Can not remember the last time I saw daylight. Starting my days way to early and leaving work to late it is alway pitch dark. Waiting for the train to take me south to Egersund town I captured this picture:
Together with a friend of mine, this trip has been planned for a couple of months. We wanted to take a photo trip down to Egersund trying to capture the christmas spirit at their christmas market. In my region there is not many big markets but every city has some small ones. But nothing like this in Egersund. For two weekends in early December they set up their wooden stalls filled with little gifts to buy and food to eat and drink. The best experience is of course as the sun sets and it begins to darken outside. Then you really get to explore the market with all its lights and the streets are full of them.
We headed out early to catch up and enjoy some lunch before exploring town. One of my favourite places to eat in town have become #mocca coffehouse. I love their small space and atmosphere, winter come summer. You always get good food here and a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
After eating for an hour or two, I lost track of time…. we headed out into the cold wind and started our way down to the marked only to stop at the local chocolate factory. Egersund has its own local chocolate fabric right in town with making their artistic chocolate in the basement and selling the goodies upstairs. I admit it chocolate gets me every time, I am to weak.
Chose som good treats to take home with me, and they were good. Loved their chocolate infused with tea. Yummy
With the christmas market opening at 1600 the dark begin to fall upon us and the christmas light grew even brighter. Some music brought us to our attention, the singing Monks of the local brewery Berendsen
We walked some hours here soaking up the christmas spirit, and I felt it come back to me. The stress have left me and I looked forward to celebrating cristmas once again. The stalls have little gifts made from local artist and of course all kinds of christmas decorations. And the big three in the middle of the square with lots of light and decorations looks wonderful. I will definitely try to come back even next year. Maby then even bringing Mr. Grupmhy.
