Stay: Frogner House Apartments
Oslo we meet again, it´s been to long.
My chance to be a Frogner “wife” for a wee while. It is a posh expression here in Norway.
And Frogner is a posh part of Oslo. Close to the castle and many embassies you may find some lovely properties here. Pay up and you may get to have your own little studio here for quite the big buck.
I came upon Frogner House some time last year when looking online. Quite by surprise. But the look got me intrigued and I told myself that by the next time we visited Oslo this Hotel was to be explored. So here we are in an apartment overlooking the shopping streets, looking down on the snowy white streets.
Frogner house is not your typical Hotel though. They provide apartments and this is perfect for business people and long term renters. There is no breakfast included, hence they have no food serving. You do get your breakfast from the two Café´s just outside. On each side of the street corners.
If you really enjoy your continental served breakfast this may not be you best choice of hotel. But keep in mind you have a small kitchen and a place to eat at your room. While traveling with Mr. Grumpy who does not do breakfast, for us this was a perfect choice. And I did´t mind getting up to fetch my desired breakfast.
I payed a little extra for a bigger room, but got a good price through Expedia´s pages. Loved the layout, and when we figured out to turn the heating on – we even managed to get rather comfy.
Frogner House Apartments is a small Hotel chain that provides with several location in this area, both smaller and bigger apartments all to your liking. Most buildings are not serviced with an reception but right were we stayed are the main reception.
This is a typical long time lease apartment for business people. I love the decor in these rooms. It is masculine, modern, a little dark and feels comfy and safe.
It will take you less than 10 minutes to get to the center of town. Like Aker brygge with all it´s restaurants but even just outside the streets of Frogner there is a good selection of places to eat, both day and night.
I had a great weekend here with my Mr. Grumpy. Even he liked the locations. There is something about the high ceilings and old buildings that get me mesmerized. I am a sucker for old buildings and love these location. With fresh modern decorations there is no going wrong in my opinion. I will definitely be back
