Stay: Myhregaarden Hotel, Stavanger
To get a better start of the new year is an understatement.
Dinner and a Hotel getaway, a mini staycation. This was my second stay at Myhregaarden Hotel, Stavanger and this time in a slightly bigger corner room with view of the sea and shopping streets. Ringing the new year in with a mini break and a #staycation, no stress and no hassle – just perfect. Kicking off the travel year of 2015.
We did not want to do anything for the new year celebration. As many of our friends have a family with kids we don’t celebrate together anymore. And let´s face it, celebrating the new year with a big party just fits a 20 something better. I like to wake up and have a great next day. Good food and good company is so much better than a raven party.
Myhregaarden Hotel, Stavanger is located downtown close to the shopping center area and looking out of our window we could see the small square in the end of the shopping street and down to the waterfront. This corner room had a great size and I love the fireplace and chandelier they got going in every room.
I love this little boutique Hotel, in Stavanger. Perfect location, great service and on most weekends they serve you a package deal with a stay and dinner combined. Makes a wonderful experience if you need to celebrate with your loved one or maybe even for a girls night out. And as Stavanger have a lovely little stage with local performances close by, you can easily use it for a combo: show, dinner stay.
Just in time for experiencing the winter lights in the streets. Walking down in downtown Stavanger this night, we had the streets much to our selves. The city was pretty dead with just one or two people stepping out ready to go somewhere else. It brought a special setting to the evening.
It is a unique small hotel with very few rooms (53 rooms including 10 junior suites) a small breakfast area including the continental breakfast in the price. With free wifi and a working space in every room they are good for business trippers as well. The rooms in the 1 – 4th floor all have high ceilings that makes for a good atmosphere.
Me personally I love these High ceilings that are typical of the older buildings. And the big windows with nice views are perfect for sitting in, daydreaming or just looking out on the streetlife.
If ever in Stavanger and you want to try out a more personalized accommodations I highly recommend this little place.

Thank you <3 Love that little tailor shops window. Really nostalgic to us Norwegian. They have taken elements out from an old children christmas show 🙂

Hi, things have apparently changed since your visit. We are currently in the corner room (“junior suite”) you had as well I assume: heating is broken, nespresso capsules missing, a broken bulb, no price list for the minibar, one soap, one room key for two persons, they didn’t tell us that the restaurants they recommended to us were actually their partner restaurants, there was no “hello, welcome to the M hotel, happy to have you as a guest” or something… When addressing some of these issues, they explained us how the electrical fireplace works (but didn’t switch it on for though we were leaving for dinner), gave us some capsules over the desk when we came back again… I’m curious what will come next tomorrow 😉 But I’m happy to hear you had a great time – sorry for unloading this, no need to publish it either, just needed a way to get rid of my frustration I guess 😉 Safe travel & keep on going with the nice blog!

Hi Andre. Sorry to hear that your experience was lacking so many basic things. This Hotel has such a big potential to be a lovely little hotel. I can however tell you that I have stayed in one of their normal rooms a couple of years ago and experiences some of the things you are telling me about. Like a broken bulb in the chandelier, and no one to tell us how the fireplace worked. We initially had to go down to the reception and ask for help. Then we found out that is was a fuse that had to be replaced. Such things are such an easy things to check and fix before we as guests come to stay. It sounds like they still have a long way to go to be perfect at M Hotel, to bad. I really thought they had gotten there s@*t together. Hope you still have a great time in Stavanger though, in this lovely spring weather. Happy and safe travels 🙂
