sword in stone
Feeling almost like King Arthur and reliving the cartoon by Disney this weekend. I drove past this constellation and this time I had to stop and take some photos. Even though I have gone by here countless times I have never taken the time to stop and explore.

These three big sword´s was put here in 1983. They are a symbol of peace and a memory of the very start of Norway as it is today – one country. Put in the mountain for never again to be used – one united kingdom.
These swords are 9,2 meters high and are based on the type of sword that has been found all over Norway around the time of the Vikings – when Harald Fairhair (Harald hårfagre) united a big part of Norway in to one kingdom – being the first of Norways Kings.
These sword´s is easily located just along the roadside in Hafrsfjord, Stavanger in lovely settings. And every time I pass here I see a lot of people touring the symbol and the nearby beach.
